My name is Drionne Arney and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working in private practice in the state of Florida.

My Philosophy

My clients are often having difficulty with managing experiences of abuse/neglect, trauma and lack of access to effective social support systems. These challenges often manifest as difficulty managing emotions, declining grades, difficulty adjusting to new environments, difficulty maintaining relationships that are important to them and with developing new relationships, as influenced by regression in social/emotional development that may complicate their transition into and through adulthood.

My focus when working with clients is on emotion regulation, trauma healing, relationship building, and social skill building to support overall improved functioning; and equipping my clients with support, tools and skills to manage their mental health needs. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), in addition to Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused and Supportive Therapy techniques to assist with improving my client’s awareness of their need for change, to explore barriers preventing them from making desired change, and to equip them with the skills needed to make and maintain their progress towards change. I am also an EMDR trained therapist, and use these skills to support my clients in developing more adaptive thoughts, feelings and beliefs as related to their experience(s) of trauma. My clients often feel like they have no control over the things happening in their life. I believe that all of my clients are resilient and I work to empower them to recognize their strengths and the influence their decision making has on their ability to better cope with challenging situations.

I strongly believe that healing happens in relationship, and developing supportive, nonjudgmental and trusting relationships with my clients is always a priority in my practice. I look forward to working with you towards improving your ability to cope with the challenging situations in your life.

Education and Experience

I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2012, and I completed my Masters degree at UCF (Go Knights!) in 2013. As a masters level Social Worker, I worked in Orlando, Florida (and in surrounding counties) as a Mental Health Targeted Case Manager and I later transitioned into my role as a clinician, providing in-home and community based therapy services to children and families who were involved in the Florida foster care system. I have also worked as a Mental Health Counselor in a residential setting providing individual, group and family counseling to at-risk youth and their families. In my most recent role before entering private practice full-time, I worked as a Juvenile Services Counselor providing mental health and substance abuse counseling to court involved youth in Leon County, Florida.

I currently work with Black, African American and other POC adults, many who identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or are engaged in nontraditional relationships, providing support with managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress and trauma, managing transition into adulthood (and college), and with improving challenging relationships.
